WHAT IS THE SOCIAL WORK UNIT?

In addition to the economic, social, psychological, educational, supportive and developmental services to be carried out by social workers in order for the patients who are hospitalized or inpatient to be examined, examined and treated effectively, the Social Services Units organize the relations of the patient with his family and environment, These are the units where services such as support in resolving personal and family problems are carried out.

Social workers in social service units; are professional staff with a four-year undergraduate degree in social work and social issues.

Social Workers act as a bridge between the hospital and the patient. In all his work, he considers the priority of the patient, but considers the benefit of the hospital. It carries out its work by using official/voluntary aids and, when necessary, provides support in solving the problems experienced by the hospital staff.

What Does a Social Worker Do?

It evaluates whether the patients who declare that they cannot pay the hospital fee really have the ability to pay, and works to find resources for those who cannot.
Providing psychosocial support to patients and their relatives who refuse to be treated, take medication, or stay in hospital; Helps with explanation and persuasion.
It provides support to patients who cannot adapt to the hospital and treatment, who have economic, social or psychological problems, and if necessary, ensures that these patients receive support from relevant persons and organizations.
It provides moral support to patients who have lost their morale due to a long stay in the hospital.
When the relatives of the patients are not available, they connect with the relatives of the patient.
It works for the placement of the patients who are left in the hospital to the relevant social service institutions (such as kindergarten, nursing home, etc.).
It works to find the source of the problem, solve it and inform the patient with the patients who have a disagreement with the hospital staff in a way that will negatively affect their treatment.
Explains the hospital rules by interviewing the patients who cause problems in a way that makes it difficult for the hospital staff to work.
It informs the disabled, the poor and individuals and their families who apply to the hospital about the community resources they can benefit from.
Disputes between spouses, divorce, domestic violence, drugs, alcohol, etc. It carries out solidarity and support activities among patients who have common problems in substance abuse, child abuse, parent-child conflict, guidance and counseling, family communication problems, economic problems, legal problems, old age and so on.
